49ers Reportedly Make 'Final Push' For Broncos Coordinator As New Coach
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The front office appears to have identified a favorite to replace Jim Harbaugh as new head coach of the San Francisco 49ers.
The NFL's Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the team was expected to have a second meeting with Broncos Offensive Coordinator Adam Gase.

Gase, 36, is one of the most sought-after names on the market this season, and is rumored to be drawing interest from the Bears, Raiders and his current team, the Broncos, who parted with John Fox Monday.
As of Tuesday morning, talks appeared to have heated up, with Denver CEO John Elway still looking for a word with his coordinator.

Gase served as the offensive coordinator for two years in Denver. Under Gase, the Broncos offense ranked fourth in the league last season, averaging 111.6 rushing yards per game and 291.3 passing yards.
Prior to that, he spent two seasons coaching Denver's quarterbacks and two years guiding wide receivers.
The 49ers are looking for a replacement for Jim Harbaugh, who departed after four season of restoring the franchise to relevancy only to leave amid turmoil for his alma mater, Michigan.
