49er Fan Assaulted In Levi's Parking Lot By Driver After Fender-Bender

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) -- A 49ers fan was assaulted in the parking lot of Levi's Stadium following a fender bender after the team's home opener game against the Chicago Bears.

The father of a KPIX 5 employee says his car was intentionally hit by a man in a Mercedes SUV while trying to leave the stadium, and then assaulted by the man when the two confronted each other.

"As soon as I knock on his window he throws open the door and throws me to the ground with two hands," 73-year old Robert Belstock said.

Belstock has been going to 49ers games since the Kezar Stadium days, and said fellow fans rushed in to save him after the man attacked him.

"When he did that there were about fifteen or twenty guys that jumped on him," Belstock said.

Those fans held the man until police arrived.

Belstock was left with a bruise on his wrist, a swollen thumb, and a broken set of glasses from the assault.
