Multiple Flat Tires On Tanker Truck Blocks Traffic In Richmond; May Be Closed Until Afternoon

RICHMOND (BCN) -- A main thoroughfare in Richmond is closed in both directions Tuesday morning after a couple of manhole covers became dislodged and caused several flat tires on a tanker truck that is now blocking the roadway, a police spokeswoman said.

The truck struck the metal manhole covers at about 4:15 a.m. and has prompted the closure of Richmond Parkway between West MacDonald and West Ohio avenues, Richmond police spokeswoman Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

The roadway could be closed until early this afternoon while crews unload fuel from the tanker and remove the vehicle from the roadway, Abetkov said.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area during the closure.

No injuries were reported in the incident, she said.
