Muni Metro Service Restored In San Francisco After Power Failure; Delays Expected

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — Regular Muni Metro service in San Francisco was resumed early Friday morning after a power failure disrupted subway train service between the Church Street and Embarcadero Stations.

Power issues in the tunnel were caused by a defective pantograph—an apparatus that connects the streetcars to the overhead power lines—that stopped functioning. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency brought in shuttles from Church inbound to the Embarcadero and from the Embarcadero outbound to West Portal.

Though service has been restored, morning commuters should expect delays.
