4 Dead In Fort Hood Shooting; Including Shooter
FORT HOOD, Texas (CBS/AP) -- At least four people are dead, including the shooter, and several injured after a soldier opened fire on a U.S. military base in Fort Hood, TX.
CBS News reports at least 11 people were injured Wednesday and that the shooter, 34-year-old Ivan Lopez, apparently died of a self-inflicted wound. Sources told CBS the violence stemmed from some sort of soldier dispute.
The base was site of the deadliest attack on a domestic military base in 2009 when 13 people were killed.
Bell County Sheriff's Office Lt. Donnie Adams said the sheriff's office dispatched deputies and troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety to the nearby Texas Army base.
Fort Hood ordered everyone at the base to "shelter in place." The order was sent Wednesday on the base's Twitter feed and posted on its Facebook page.
U.S. Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hassan was convicted in 2013 for the previous massacre and was sentenced to death.
