4.8 Magnitude Quake Strikes Near Big Pine, California

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck about 70 miles east of Fresno Tuesday afternoon not far from the Nevada border, according to the U.S. Geological Survey

The quake happened at 3:04 p.m., and was centered 6 miles from the town of Big Pine at a depth of about 9.3 miles.

This is the third quake of magnitude 3.0 or greater in the area over the last 10 days, according to the USGS.

So far there are no reports of injuries or damages.
