4.0 Magnitude Quake Strikes East Bay
FREMONT (CBS SF) -- A 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck the East Bay early Tuesday morning.
The quake was centered about 1.5 miles NNE of Fremont and occurred at 2:41 a.m., according to the USGS.
While there were no reports of serious damage, the KPIX newsroom received calls from Santa Clara, San Francisco, Pleasanton, and San Ramon from people reporting the earthquake.

USGS mapping indicates about a dozen small quakes hit a small section of Fremont shortly after the quake. They ranged in magnitude from 1.0 to 2.7.

BART was inspecting tracks as standard procedure following the quake, but things appear to have checked out as normal.
