30-Year-Old Woman Struck, Killed By BART Train In San Leandro Identified

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) -- A woman who apparently jumped to her death in front of a train at the San Leandro BART station on Thursday has been identified as 30-year-old Sangeetha Rajkumar of San Leandro, an Alameda County coroner's spokesman said Friday.

The incident was reported at 9:31 a.m. on Thursday and involved a train traveling from Fremont to Daly City, BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.

BART police said on Thursday that it appears that Rajkumar committed suicide because witnesses told them that they saw her jump in front of the train.

The death shut down service at both the San Leandro and Oakland Coliseum stations for more than an hour on Thursday, with BART trains turning around at the Fruitvale and Bay Fair stations, Trost said.
