3 Injured In 2 Separate Overnight Oakland Shootings

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Three people were injured in two separate shootings that occurred Thursday night and early Friday morning in Oakland, police said.

A 36-year old man in a vehicle suffered a graze wound to his side in a shooting at about 2:40 a.m. in the 7000 block of Krause Avenue.

The victim was treated for his injuries at the shooting site, police said. The shooter was in a separate vehicle.

The Thursday night shooting occurred at about 9:30 p.m. in the 6500 block of Foothill Boulevard near the Eastmont Town Center shopping center.

A 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman suffered graze wounds to their faces after the man and another man got into an argument, police said.

No arrest has been made in the shooting.

In other police work News Year's Eve night and early Friday morning, officers issued 29 traffic citations and three citations for infractions or misdemeanors, police said.

Officers arrested eight people between 8 p.m. Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday for a variety of offenses, such as possessing a gun, possessing a controlled substance and public drunkenness.

Officers also monitored a protest that started at 8:15 p.m. in downtown Oakland. Police monitored the protesters, who set off illegal fireworks before dispersing at Frank Ogawa Plaza at 14th Street and Broadway.

Police said no one was injured and no one damaged any property in the protest.

Deputies with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office and officers with the California Highway Patrol assisted Oakland police Thursday night and early Friday morning.
