3 Different Sightings Of Mountain Lions Reported In Santa Cruz This Week

SANTA CRUZ (CBS SF) – There have been multiple reports of mountain lions being spotted in the city of Santa Cruz this week.

Santa Cruz Deputy Police Chief Steve Clark tells the Santa Cruz Sentinel there have been three different sightings involving four pumas this week.

Authorities said two big cats were seen near the Barn Theater at UC Santa Cruz on Friday morning. Another was first seen early Thursday morning in the shrubbery on Bay Street between Escalona Drive and Franklin Street. And on Tuesday, a mountain lion was reported at Los Ondas Court.

State Fish and Wildlife officials and the research group the Santa Cruz Puma Project have been notified.

Police are encouraging people to be mindful of their surroundings, and to watch their pets and small children.
