3-Day Partial Closure Of San Francisco's Van Ness Avenue Begins Friday Night

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- There's never really a good time to shut down a busy street in San Francisco, but at 12 a.m. Saturday that's exactly what happens on Van Ness Ave. between Post Street and Geary Blvd.

The project manager for the Sutter CPMC Van Ness and Geary Campus Tunnel Construction says it's a good idea to avoid the thoroughfare for the entire weekend if at all possible.

It's the first of three weekends the 72-hour closures will go into effect. Van Ness should re-open by Monday for the time being.

Another will take place Friday, April 24th through Sunday, April 26th.

Due to the detours, Muni's 47 and 49 lines may experience delays.
