2 Redwood City Trailer Parks Evacuated After Thursday's Storm

REDWOOD CITY (CBS SF) -- Residents of two Redwood City mobile home parks will be allowed to return to their homes Friday after being evacuated Thursday due to the rising flood waters from yesterday's storm.

Firefighters used a rowboat to navigate what are normally the roads that enter into the RC Mobile Home Park and the Le Mar Trailer Park, both located in the 1900 block of E. Bayshore Road, after a nearby creek overflowed.

Redwood City Battalion Chief Dave Pucci said that water entered into at least nine homes.

"Some of the residents have water that's up to the door. Some of the residents actually have water that's actually breached the living space wo we're going out through the boats and pull them out of there and we're assisting them with providing an evacuation shelter," he said.

Nobody was ordered to leave but most did anyway.

Many residents had to wade through knee-deep water while carrying their personal belongings in plastic bags as they left

Long-time residents like Bird Coyle told KCBS that it was no surprise that the creek would overflow its banks during a big storm.

"Every time you get a good storm like this, all the drains and sewers, or whatever, get clogged up. There's no place for the water to go," he said.

There were no injuries reported.
