2 Oakland Teens Pen Cookbook Featuring The Town's Diverse Culture, Cuisine

OAKLAND (CBS/AP) -- Two Oakland teens have penned a cookbook of recipes from 20 different cultures in their neighborhood.

The Oakland Tribune reports Thursday that 17-year-old Elazar Sontag and 19-year-old Anya Ku's "Flavors of Oakland" includes recipes for Indian crab curry, Venezuelan arepas, Mexican chicken taquitos and many more tasty meals and snacks.

Nearly every Oakland neighborhood is represented, and recipes are interwoven with stories of hardship, joy and celebration.

A crowdfunded campaign has been started to raise enough money to publish copies of the book for every Oakland school and library.

Sontag and Ku have raised more than $10,000 of their $15,000 goal.
