2 Millbrae Schools Evacuated After Emailed Bomb Threat

MILLBRAE (CBS SF) -- Authorities on Friday afternoon confirmed that two Millbrae schools have been evacuated after an emailed bomb threat, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff sent out an announcement that the bomb threat had been emailed to the Boys and Girls Club Friday afternoon. Both Lomita Park Elementary School and Taylor Middle School have been evacuated in the wake of the threat.

Lomita Elementary is located at the intersection of Santa Helena Avenue and San Anselmo Avenue close to El Camino Real, while Taylor Middle School is at 850 Taylor Boulevard.

The Sheriff's office said that officials believe the email is a hoax and so far deputies have found no suspicious evidence.

"We want to reassure our students and parents their safety is our priority and are currently searching these locations," San Mateo County Sheriff's Office spokesman Detective Salvador Zuno said in the announcement.

Authorities asked for any questions regarding students at the two schools be directed to school administrators. Residents were asked to avoid the area around the two schools during the investigation.
