2 Drivers Arrested For DUI In Oakland After Passenger Killed In Crash

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- The drivers of both cars in a fatal two-car crash in East Oakland on Monday night were arrested on suspicion of driving drunk, police said Wednesday.

A passenger in a Toyota Camry, 22-year-old Marco Hino Josa Ortiz of Oakland, was pronounced dead shortly after the 11:41 p.m. crash at Foothill Boulevard and Cole Street, police said.

The Camry driver was headed east on Foothill when a Mercury Mountaineer slammed into it as the Mountaineer was driving north on Cole. The Camry then hit a telephone pole, police said.

The Camry driver, a 24-year-old Oakland man, and the Mountaineer driver, a 37-year-old Oakland man, were both taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Police then arrested both suspects on suspicion of DUI.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the crash has been asked to call Oakland police (510) 777-8540.
