2 Arrested For Stealing 12 Gift Cards From Vallejo 7-Eleven

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Vallejo police arrested two men Thursday for allegedly stealing and activating gift cards at a 7-Eleven store last month.

Luikie Daniel Fungavaka, 23, is suspected of stealing and activating three gift cards at the 7-Eleven store at 2580 Springs Road in Vallejo on Feb. 2, police Capt. Jim O'Connell said.

Surveillance footage showed the suspect, who was wearing a multi-colored mask, knew how to operate the 7-Eleven cash register, O'Connell said.

Fungavaka and another man are suspected of stealing and activating between six and 12 gift cards worth $500 each at the same 7-Eleven on Feb. 8, but the company deactivated the cards before they could be used, O'Connell said.

Detectives identified Fungavaka as one of the suspects in the second theft, O'Connell said. Police got a warrant to search Fungavaka's vehicle and residence and arrested him on Thursday. Fungavaka admitted both robberies, O'Connell said.

During the search of Fungavaka's residence in the 100 block of Parkhaven Drive, detectives contacted Josefa Quai Hoi, 24, who lived at the residence, O'Connell said.

Detectives found evidence linking Fungavaka to both robberies and Hoi to the second robbery, O'Connell said.

Hoi admitted his involvement in the second theft, O'Connell said. He was booked in the Solano County jail on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy.

Fungavaka was booked on those charges and for theft of a forged document and receiving stolen property.
