2-Alarm Fire At San Jose Pallet Yard Considered Suspicious
SAN JOSE (KCBS) -- Firefighters are investigating a 2-alarm blaze that broke out at a pallet storage yard in San Jose Tuesday morning, fire officials said.
The fire was first called in at 1:59 a.m. in the 1000 block of Oakland road, according to fire officials.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 5:08 a.m., San Jose Fire Capt. Ray Nibbi said.
The intense heat from the flames burned some the cars parked outside an auto body repair shop located across the street.
"There was about seven cars that were damaged that were along the fence where the body shop was but they were able to keep it to the area of origin," Nibbi told KCBS.
"It's pretty much out at this point."
Eventually, he said, firefighters will have to break up the pallets with heavy equipment and spray more water on them to make sure they don't reignite.
Because the fire started overnight, it is considered suspicious and arson investigators will look into the the cause.
No injuries have been reported.
