2-Alarm Attic Fire Damages Sunnyvale Restaurant

SUNNYVALE (CBS SF) -- Firefighters were working on putting out a restaurant fire in Sunnyvale Tuesday morning, a Department of Public Safety captain said.

The fire, in a restaurant on El Camino Real near Fair Oaks Boulevard, was reported at about 6:20 a.m., public safety Capt. Jeff Hunter said.

While the building is not entirely involved, the fire in the restaurant's attic has been difficult to reach and firefighters called a second alarm response, Hunter said.

The fire was still burning as of about 7:20 a.m. Westbound El Camino Real was shut down at Fair Oaks and public safety officials are asking motorists to avoid the area.
