$15 Million Settlement Proposed In Death Of Sunbather Run Over By SF City Vehicle

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The family of a woman who was killed when she was run over by a maintenance vehicle while lying in a Bernal Heights Park last year appears headed for a big settlement from the City of San Francisco.

The Recreation and Park Commission has recommended the approval of a $15 million settlement in the death of Christine Svanemyr, who was laying with her 11-month-old daughter and a dog at Holly Park when she was allegedly run over by a department worker last September.

The settlement would resolve a claim by Svanemyr's husband, and would require approval by the Board of Supervisors.

The man who police say was at the wheel of that truck, Thomas Burnoski, is awaiting trial for manslaughter.
