1-Year Old Shot In East Oakland

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Police are reporting a 1-year-old child was shot Thursday afternoon in East Oakland.

The child was transported to a hospital in stable condition, according to Oakland police.

Police said officers responded to the incident at 12:25 p.m. in the 2600 block of 73rd Avenue.

Police said the child was with his family when the shooting occurred and they are investigating whether the shooting was an accident.

Police initially reported the victim was 2 years old and that the incident occurred on 73rd Avenue.

Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the department's Felony Assault Unit at (510) 238-3426.
