1-Year-Old Boy Shot While Riding Stroller In East Oakland Recovering In Hospital

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A 1-year-old boy who was shot while riding in a stroller in East Oakland on Thursday remains hospitalized Wednesday but is in stable condition and recovering, police said.

The boy was with his family in a stroller in the vicinity of the Eastmont police substation in the 2600 block of 73rd Avenue at about 12:25 p.m. on Thursday when he was struck by gunfire in what appears to have been an accidental discharge by somebody in the neighborhood, according to police.

Authorities said they don't think the boy's family was targeted and they don't think there's a threat to the neighborhood where the shooting occurred.

Oakland police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call their felony assault unit at (510) 238-3426.
