1 Dies In Daly City Cliff Fall; 2 Others Seriously Hurt

DALY CITY (CBS SF) -- One person died and two others were seriously injured after falling from a cliff in Daly City early Saturday morning, fire officials said.

At about 4:35 a.m., emergency crews with the North County Fire Authority were dispatched to a report of a cliff rescue near Palisades Drive and Westridge Avenue, just below Palisade Park, according to fire officials.

The three victims apparently fell about 250 to 300 feet down the cliff and were located on the beach, just south of Thornton State Beach, law enforcement and fire officials said.

Firefighter paramedics found the victims and quickly implemented advanced life-saving protocols and measures.

The U.S. Coast Guard deployed a helicopter to remove the victims from the beach, fire officials said.

The injured victims were airlifted to a landing zone where paramedics continued to treat them.

One victim did not survive and was declared deceased at the scene.

The two other victims were transported by ambulance to a trauma center with serious injuries, fire officials said.

The incident remains under investigation and the identity of the deceased person has not yet been released.
