1 Dead, 3 Injured In Car Wreck At San Jose Airport

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - A 25-year-old woman was killed when she crashed into a car carrying five people, including an infant, at Mineta San Jose International Airport this morning, a police spokesman said.

The crash happened near the airport's Terminal B at about 10:30 a.m.

The woman, whose name is not yet being released, was apparently speeding south in a red two-door Pontiac when she struck a silver Audi SUV that was turning left into a parking structure, San Jose police Officer Albert Morales said.

"Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles with visible damage. One of the occupants of an involved vehicle was unresponsive.  Fire and medical personnel arrived and pronounced the one person deceased at the scene," said Morales. "The circumstances and details surrounding the collision are unknown at this time."

The woman in the Pontiac was pronounced dead at the scene, while all five people in the Audi, including the infant, were taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries. All five are expected to survive, Morales said.

Three airlines operate out of Terminal B: Southwest, Alaska and Hainan, which recently began offering non-stop flights from San Jose to Beijing, airport spokeswoman Rosemary Barnes said.
