1 Arrested After Hundreds Of Drivers Take Part In Oakland Sideshows

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- One person was arrested after sideshows popped up in different Oakland neighborhoods late Saturday night.

Video posted to YouTube shows crowds jumping on cars near High Street before police say two hundred cars drove onto I-880 going in the wrong direction before performing stunts in front of stopped traffic.

Police say cars from as far away as Fresno and Los Angeles took part in the sideshows, as well as motorcyclists from San Jose.

"There's a lot of people. I don't think they can handle a lot of people," an Oakland resident who woke to the sounds of gunshots during one of the sideshows said.

Despite the reports of gunshots during the sideshows, there were no reports of injuries.

A man leaving a sideshow near 73rd and San Leandro led officers on a two mile chase before finally stopping and being arrested.

First reports of the sideshows came in around midnight Saturday, and continued on until about 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
