Yuba Pass crash leaves 3 people hurt, family dog dead

CBS News Sacramento

SIERRA COUNTY – A crash in snowy conditions left several people hurt and a family dog dead on Highway 49 on Monday, authorities say.

California Highway Patrol says, a little after 3:30 p.m., a sedan was heading down from Yuba Pass when they took a right turn too fast – sliding into oncoming traffic.

The sedan then collided with a pickup truck that was heading up the pass.

Officers say three people in the sedan suffered severe injuries in the crash.

While the people inside the pickup escaped major injuries, CHP says a dog was hurt and died shortly after the crash.

Authorities are urging drivers who head up to the snowy conditions to slow down and make sure their tires have proper tread depth.
