Woodland Mother Sentenced To 15 Years To Life In Prison For Death Of Baby

WOODLAND (CBS13) – A Woodland mother found guilty of murder in the death of her baby last year has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Samantha Green was arrested in February 2015 after her baby son Justice was found dead in a slough near Knights Landing.

Back in September, Green was found guilty of second-degree murder.

At a Nov. 1 sentencing, Green's defense filed a motion to ask for a new trial. The defense argued that Green should have only been convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

Friday, Green was back in court. The judge refused to hear the motion for a new trial and he then handed down the 15-years-to-life sentence.
