Woodland K9 Officer On Road To Recovery After Being Critically Injured

DAVIS (CBS13) - A dedicated K9 officer is fighting for his life after being hit by a car while on the job.

Peydro was hurt early Saturday morning while chasing after a suspect in Woodland. The K9 ran into a car during the chase, leaving him in critical condition.

As of Tuesday, Peydro is still being cared for at the UC Davis Veterinary Hospital.

According to the Foothills K9 Association, Peydro has undergone surgery and woke up from the surgery on Sunday. The K9 had several of his teeth removed, had his spine realigned and spinal cord decompressed, and had a blood transfusion due to excessive blood loss.

Peydro reportedly has feeling back in his rear legs and was even seen wagging his tail.

For those who want to help donate to support Peydro's vet care, donations can be made to the Foothills K9 Association.
