Woman Stung Up To 100 Times On Golf Course After Lawnmower Disturbs Hive

LAGUNA WOODS, Calif. (AP) - Two women are recovering after bees stung them dozens of times at an Orange County golf course.

The Orange County Register (http://bit.ly/1FVYPcU ) says the women, who are in their 70s, were attacked Tuesday morning at Laguna Woods Golf Course.

County fire Capt. Paul Holaday says one woman was stung 15 times and the other up to 100 times after a groundskeeper using a lawnmower disturbed a hive in an irrigation box.

It's the third such attack in recent weeks.

Last week, two men were stung - one up to 100 times - after they disturbed a hive while working on the roof of a Costa Mesa home. And on Sept. 28, a couple had to flee bees as they helped a truck crash victim on an Irvine freeway.
