Woman Escapes Mobile Home Fire In Sacramento County

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) – Authorities believe a fire at a mobile home was caused by a resident who was using her oven as a heater.

The scene is near Auburn Boulevard and Manzanita Avenue. Metro Fire crews got the scene a little after 4 a.m. Friday and found the mobile home on fire.

The one person in the home, a woman in her 90s, was able to get out safely.

Neighbors were awakened by the commotion and were quick the help the woman to safety.

"Our little dog heard what was going on, seen the flames, and kept bouncing on my head," said neighbor Penny Hook. "She went nuts until I woke up."

Investigators believe the resident was using her oven to heat her home when pots and pans caught fire.

Authorities hope the situation will warn people of the dangers of using alternatives for heat.
