Woman And Her Boyfriend Accused Of Killing Bay Area Sheriff's Volunteer

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - A 23-year-old woman and her boyfriend have been accused of killing an Alameda County Sheriff's Office volunteer.

The East Bay Times reports that Sheriff's Office Explorer Karla Ramirez-Segoviano's body was found beaten, stabbed, burned and discarded in a creek in East Oakland on Thursday.

Prosecutors on Monday charged Laura Rodgers, a former friend and co-worker of the victim, and Rodgers' boyfriend, Curtys Entoine Taylor, with murder.

According to court documents, Rodgers told police she had planned the murder and discussed it with Taylor beforehand.

A possible motive for the killing has not been released, but police believe it was unrelated to Ramirez-Segoviano's work as a police explorer.
