Woman Accused Of Leaving Baby In Fridge For Hours, Killing Him

CHESTER, S.C. — A woman is facing life in prison for allegedly of killing her four-day-old child by leaving him in the refrigerator, according to CBS affiliate WBTV.

Twenty-seven-year-old Angela Renee Blackwell of Chester County, South Carolina was arrested Monday, accused of felony homicide by child abuse.

Blackwell was reportedly at her home on February 27 when she put her baby in the refrigerator and shut the door, the arrest warrant states. Around 8:26 a.m., three hours later, Blackwell removed the infant and sought medical attention.

The baby was taken to Chester Regional Medical Center where doctors pronounced the baby dead.

"The death occurred under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to human life," the warrant states.

If convicted, Blackwell faces 20 years to life in prison.
