Woman, 37, Dies After Head-On Crash Near Woodland

WOODLAND (CBS13) - A woman has died after a head-on crash near Woodland on Thursday morning.

The scene was on southbound Interstate 5, south of County Road 91B.

California Highway Patrol says the 37-year-old woman was driving south when she crossed over into the northbound lane, slamming head-on into a car being driven by 68-year-old Gold Beach, Oregon resident James L. Schwab.

The impact sent the woman's car to be thrown towards the frontage road. She suffered fatal injuries in the crash, CHP says.

Schwab suffered major injuries and has been transported to the UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.

It is still unclear why the woman, whose identity has not been released, drifted into the wrong lane.
