Wine Country Money Dispute Ends In Execution-Style Murder-Suicide In Napa Vineyard
NAPA (CBS13) — A bitter money dispute in wine country ended in an execution-style shooting at a Napa Valley vineyard.
Napa County deputies say vintner Robert Dahl shot and killed his partner using a silencer, then turned the gun on himself.
The two had been in a contentious legal battle.
Lewis Perdue, the editor and publisher of Wine Industry Insight said Dahl's victim had invested more than $1 million into the winery, but failed to do his research on the industry or Dahl.
"He had a reputation for not keeping his end of the bargain," Perdue said. "He had money to invest and everybody is attracted by the wine business—it's so glamorous. They don't realize that every bottle of wine starts with mud on their boots."
The autopsy for both men is scheduled for Wednesday.
