Wet Weekend Ahead, Heavy Snow Expected In High Sierra
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – It's going to be a pretty wet weekend as a winter storm rolls in later Friday.
Valley residents will wake up to rain on Saturday morning. Expect it to be heavy at times, then showery on and off throughout the day and into Sunday.
Between .5'' to 1.5'' of rain is expected in the valley, while between 1'' to 3'' is expected for the foothills.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Sierra above 6000'. Heavy snow and gusty winds are expected above that level. The advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. Saturday through 4 p.m. Sunday.
Snowfall amounts are expected to be between 6 to 9 inches, with up to 12 inches of snow possible above 7000'.
Several ski resorts are scheduled to open on Friday and are hoping to take advantage of the weekend storm.

If you need to drive up the mountains this weekend, make sure to use caution and watch out for chain controls.
