Wet Weather Expected Wednesday Evening Into Weekend
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – After Northern California thaws out from freezing temperatures Wednesday morning, rain and snow are expected in the evening.
A Freeze Warning is in effect through 9 a.m. in the valley, with temperatures dipping down to 28-32 degrees.

Clouds are expected all day, but the rain is not expected for the valley until after 4 p.m. Heavier bands of rain will come overnight, and showers are expected Thursday and Friday. Due to the plume of moisture being a bit narrow, the National Weather Service says some locations may miss out on rain.
From Wednesday night through Saturday, the valley could see rain totals between 1''-2''.

For the Sierra, a Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 4 p.m. Wednesday through 10 a.m. Thursday. Expect chain controls and slick road conditions.
About 3''-6'' of snow above 5000 feet is expected, with lighter totals possible down to the 3000 feet level.
Come Thursday morning in the Sierra, rain will be more likely than snow at lake level in Tahoe due to the warmer air moving in Wednesday night. At this point, the snow level could be as high as 7000 feet.
In all, it will be a very wet stretch for the foothills and Sierra, with 2''-4'' total of rain expected between Wednesday evening and Saturday.
