Boy killed in shooting at West Sacramento's Summerfield Park
WEST SACRAMENTO – West Sacramento police said a boy died after being shot at Summerfield Park on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded shortly before 2 p.m. to the park, located on Linden Road between Brenda Way and Diane Drive.
The victim, only described as a male juvenile, was located injured at the scene and taken to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
His name will be released once the next of kin has been notified, police said.
No information was available on a suspect.
West Sacramento police said there was no active threat to the community but urged people to avoid the area while they processed the scene.
