College Football Weekly Q&A: Auburn Vs. Memphis

With 40 games being played over the next two weeks, there's plenty of football to talk about. CBS Radio's Kevin Boehlke shared his take on the Birmingham Bowl with the 6-6 Auburn Tigers facing off against the 9-3 Memphis Tigers.

Q: The big question: who'll come out on top.

A: Memphis. It's a battle of one of the most disappointing teams against one of the most impressive. Memphis won its first eight games, before dropping three of the last four. Aside from the quarterback position, the Auburn Tigers are probably more physically gifted at every single position on the field, but even though the game is in Alabama, it's unlikely fans are clamoring to get over there to watch.

Q: Why does Memphis have an advantage?

A: Memphis' strength is on offense. Paxton Lynch, a true NFL prospect, should be able to get the passing attack going early. Auburn is going to try and pound the football at Memphis and get the early lead. Memphis will need to slow down the Auburn run game and get the ball back to Lynch.

Q: What about Auburn's running game?

A: There's a real chance that Auburn's offense returns to what we've seen over the past few years, but we haven't seen it all year, so I'm betting it won't show back up.
