Weekend Weather Outlook 11/26-27
The clouds moved in this morning -- a sign of things to come this weekend. We're in for a wet weekend in the Sacramento Valley, with rain, snow and a wind advisory for the Sierra.
Friday:
- Cloudy, but dry. High 60.
- Wind advisory for the sierra through Saturday morning for southwest winds gusting 40-50 mph (will likely affect some lift operations at resorts that are already open.)
Saturday:
Rain will move through the valley during the morning and early afternoon, and snow will really get going in the mountains during the afternoon/evening.
- Heaviest round of rain and snow likely overnight Saturday into Sunday.
- The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a winter weather advisory for heavy snow above 4,000 feet from 4 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday:
Main impact:
- Slippery roads and possible chain controls in effect.
- Snow accumulations. From 8 to 12 inches with a maximum of 15 inches in the highest elevations.
- Breezy to gusty winds with possible whiteout conditions at times.
Sunday:
- It'll still be snowing in the mountains, with big travel impacts likely.
- Rain showers are possible for the valley.
- Temperatures will be cool with highs in the 50s.
