WATCH: Police Officer Does Nae Nae With Kids During Sacramento Summer Night Lights

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The Sacramento Police had a little fun with some kids during part of a youth outreach program on Friday.

Video posted to the Sacramento Summer Night Lights Facebook page shows an officer leading a group of children in the Nae Nae.

The event was part of a 14-week outreach program is put on by the Mack Road Partnership and the Sacramento Police Department. It aims to reduce crime during the summer in an area hit hard by violence.

Organizers say Summer Night Lights keeps kids busy with positive activities like basketball during the summer, so they're not out committing crimes instead.

In 2014, the program's first year, the homicide rate dropped in South Sacramento, and there wasn't a homicide in the area during the 14 weeks of the program, Sacramento Police said.
