WATCH: Molly The Cow Rescued Three Days After 30-Foot Plunge Into Tuolumne Mine

TUOLUMNE (CBS13) — Three days after falling 30 feet into a Tuolumne County mine, Molly the cow was rescued by UC Davis veterinarians.

Rescue crews pulled the 1,200 pound bovine out on Thursday. She fell in the hole on Monday, and rescuers attempted to save her on Wednesday night, but it was too dark.

The whole process on Thursday took about three hours, and the rescue came as CBS13 cameras were rolling.

Her owner fed Molly crackers and bananas until Tuolumne animal control assembled the UC Davis emergency response team.

The crew heading in was fitted with harnesses as they descended into the hole. Molly was sedated to calm her down, then the vets tied several ropes around her before hoisting her to safety.

Somehow, Molly didn't suffer a single broken bone in the 30-foot fall.

"It's just a good ending to something that could have been real real tragic," her owner said.

This isn't the first time UC Davis veterinarians have helped rescue livestock from a sticky situation. Back in 2012, the same vet was part of a team that helped rescue a rodeo bull from a well in Folsom.
