Jon Voight Buys Thanksgiving Turkeys For Stranger At Walmart

(Louisville, KY) - The season of random acts of kindness is here, at least according to Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight. The actor ended up spreading some extra cheer to a few children in need in Louisville.

Voight met a stranger, 28-year-old Sydney Gholston, at the checkout line of a Louisville, Kentucky Walmart last week. Gholston was purchasing six turkeys for a Thanksgiving feast at the Home of the Innocents, a Kentucky non-profit organization that has served underprivileged youth.

"I was helping the lady scan the turkeys and the man behind me [Voight] said, 'You must have a big family. That's an awful lot of turkeys," explained Gholston to WHA11.

Voight was interested in learning more about the organization and lending a hand to Gholston, the director of food and nutritional services at the organization.

"Very nice guy. He was very interested in what we did at the home," said Gholston.

In the spirit of the holiday season, Voight offered to pay for all six of the turkeys that are said to feed up to 70 children at the home on Thanksgiving Day.

Thankful for his kind gesture, the home took to their official Facebook page to thank the actor. A post featuring a picture of a cheery eyed Voight and Gholston read, "Jon generously paid for the turkeys to feed our kids next week! We are so thankful for his generosity!"
