VIDEO: Hiker Falls Down Sea Cliff, Rescued By CHP Helicopter

MARIN COUNTY (CBS13) – Video from a California Highway Patrol helicopter shows the daring rescue of a hiker after a 70-foot fall down a Bay Area cliff.

It happened in Marin County along the Point Reyes National Seashore Saturday afternoon.

CHP says the hiker was with his church group when he fell the equivalent of five stories and hit the rocks before falling into the surf as the tide was rising.

Two bystanders were able to swim out and reach him before the helicopter arrived.

The hiker was then taken to a nearby hospital with major injuries.

Both of the good Samaritans were rescued by helicopter after it dropped off the injured hiker.
