Veteran Guard Jordan Farmar Signs With Kings
The Sacramento Kings have added another veteran to the depth chart, as the Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Vlade Divac announced Wednesday the signing of Jordan Farmar.
The details of the contract have not yet been announced.
The 29-year-old point guard played in just 12 games last season with the Memphis Grizzlies (under new Kings head coach Dave Joerger), but has played in the NBA for nine seasons. Before Memphis, Farmar has played with the Los Angeles Lakers (five seasons), New Jersey Nets (two seasons) and the Los Angeles Clippers (one season).
Playing mostly as a bench player, Farmar has been known as a force off the bench as well as a decent-to-good three-point shooter. His career 37.4 percent three-point shot ranks him as one of the best on the Kings roster.
Knowing the Kings inexperienced arsenal of guards, Farmar will have a good shot of becoming the point guard to come off the bench for Collison. Ty Lawson, who the Kings signed earlier this summer, will also be fighting for a backup point guard spot.
Farmar will be joining some familiar faces, as he and new teammates Arron Afflalo and Darren Collison all played together on the 2005-06 UCLA team, eventually losing in the Championship game against Florida.
