Verizon Call Center In Rancho Cordova Closing Next Year

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) - Verizon has announced they will be closing their call center in Rancho Cordova early next year.

A company representative confirmed the closure, noting that 1,000 positions are relocating to other call centers across the US.

"Verizon has made a very difficult, but necessary, business decision to close our Rancho Cordova, CA Customer Service and Telesales call center and relocate those jobs to other Customer Service call and telesales centers," a Verizon official wrote in a statement.

Verizon officials say they will help employees looking for a job in the other areas. Employees who do not relocate will be offered separation packages, the company said.

The center will be open until Jan. 27, 2017.
