Vegetation Fire In Rural Lincoln Now 100% Contained

LINCOLN (CBS13) — A vegetation fire in Placer County shut down part of Highway 65 Thursday evening.

According to the Placer County Sheriff's Office, the vegetation fire was in rural Lincoln and prompted a closure on northbound Highway 65 at Nelson Lane.

According to Cal Fire, the Nelson Fire 100% contained at 110 acres. A large plume of dark smoke could be seen in the area.

By 5:45 p.m., Cal Fire said the forward progress of the fire had stopped. The roadway reopened around the same time.

Cal Fire said the cause of the fire was a bird that flew into power lines.
