Vaccine Lobbyist Says Chiropractic Association President Encouraging Opponents To Break Law

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A pro-vaccine lobbyist is accusing the president of the California Chiropractic Association of encouraging vaccine opposers to break the law.

Jodi Hicks claims she's been dealing with incidents of stalking and threats of violence from people against Senate Bill 277, according to a report filed with the Sacramento Police Department.

SB277 would require all children to be vaccinated if they want to attend school in California, and has faced vocal opposition at multiple hearings.

Hicks believes the behavior has been encouraged by Brian Stenzer, the president of the California Chiropractic Association.

Video shows Stenzler talking to a fellow opponent about Hicks and her colleagues, seemingly encouraging them to follow the lobbyist.

Stenzler says his words were misunderstood.

"We would never ever conduct ourselves in such a way that we would ever condone aggressive behavior, threats, or any type of stalking whatsoever," he said.

He says he can't control all opponents or their actions.

Hicks has documented opponents taking photos of her crossing the street and others saying, "The faster we kill these savages, the faster we'll win our freedom back."

Stenzler says he denounces those types of comments.
