Vacaville Woman Arrested For DUI After Bay Bridge Crash

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A 32-year-old woman whom authorities say drove the wrong way and caused a multi-vehicle crash on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge has been arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Wright said Karrie Lyn Morgan of Vacaville was booked into the San Francisco Jail early Sunday on charges of felony DUI, drug possession and driving without a license.

Wright says investigators don't yet know how Morgan ended up heading west on the eastbound side of the bridge at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. But he says the shoulder she initially was driving on ended near the bridge tower, which forced Morgan into oncoming traffic.

Another driver suffered a broken leg. Morgan and one other person received minor injuries.

The accident briefly shut down the bridge and backed up traffic into San Francisco for hours.
