Vacaville Man, Original Tuskegee Airman, Will Be Buried At Arlington National Cemetery
VACAVILLE (CBS13) — A 90-year-old Vacaville man who was one of the original Tuskegee Airmen will now join fellow American heroes at Arlington National Cemetery.
Ret. Lt. Col. James Warren died last week after battling cancer.
He was part of the nation's first African-American air squadron, getting his wings flying B-25 missions. After retiring from the Air Force, he spent his time preserving the history of the Tuskegee Airmen.
"Col. Warren is an American hero, and he went through so much, including segregation," said Aubrey Matthews with the Travis Air Force Base Tuskegee Airmen chapter. "He went through wars. He's a role model, because he wants to give back to the community."
One of his last wishes was for his airplane to be used to teach youth to fly.
