Central California Teen Missing In Utah Mountains Found Alive

MILLCREEK, Utah (AP) - A California teenager who went missing while hiking in the snowy Utah mountains was found alive Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The 17-year-old was taken out of the canyon where he was found east of Salt Lake City by helicopter and taken to a local hospital, the Deseret News reports. It's unknown what kind of injuries he suffered.

Search and rescue crews spent all Friday morning looking for the teenager. The boy was visiting a friend and hadn't been seen since he took an Uber to Millcreek Canyon Thursday morning to take an all-day hike, the United Police Department said.

The boy's identity hasn't been released. His mother was traveling to Utah from Fresno, police spokesman Ken Hansen said.
