US-50 Closes Near Red Hawk Parkway Due To Crash, Downed Power Lines
SHINGLE SPRINGS (CBS13) -- Both directions of US 50 were closed near Red Hawk Parkway after multiple vehicles were struck by power lines that fell down across all lanes of the freeway, Saturday evening around 7:05 PM.
California Highway Patrol, CalFire and CalTrans responded to assist with the accident and traffic control. Pacific Gas And Electric were requested by the California Highway Patrol to assist with the downed power lines.
3,961 PG&E customers in the Shingle Springs area are without power and the power company's website estimates that power will be restored around 10:15 PM on Saturday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle being driven at a high rate of speed nearby on Wild Chaparral road hit a power pole, which caused the power lines to come down across the lanes of US 50, nearby. Lanes were blocked for over 90 minutes causing a chain reaction of stop-and-go traffic in the area.
